Telling ourselves we should be different or better can feel like a threat

Kindness brings safety, and with safety comes growth

When we’re constantly telling ourselves that we’re not enough, that we need to change, we’re creating a harsh environment for ourselves where it will be very difficult to grow.

That not only affects our self-esteem, but it has a big impact on our health.

Because our brains are designed to respond to internal threats the same way as external ones, we’ll be constantly experiencing the same stress levels as if we were in a life-or-death situation.

So, instead of trying to change who you are, be kind to yourself.

With kindness comes safety, and when we feel safe, that’s when we naturally grow.
